Blue Whale
Blue Whale
Every year in January, the Islands within the Bahía de Loreto National Marine Park are home to 9 species of whales; the blue whale, fin whale, sei, sperm whales, minky, pilot, killer whales, humpbacks and a few gray whales.
These giant mammals can reach up to 30 meters in length and weigh almost 150 tons, and we can often see them at a distance almost within arm's reach. Due to the fact that the blue whale and the fin whale come to the surface of the sea about 2 to 6 minutes after their long dive, and travel at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour, it is important to understand many variables, which will determine the Diving time which can be up to 25 minutes, and the place where the whale will surface.
